A rousing hello and welcome to Mrs. B's Haunted Blog Tour patrons! But not too rousing...we don't want to wake the dead.
For this tour, I thought I'd take a tour myself, so I set out to visit a local cemetery. At this cemetery, the earliest residents of my hometown are interred. The first residents, and oldest residents (at 107 years and 103 years) are here. As well as the first mayor, first police officer and a surprising number of children for such a sparsely populated graveyard.
Although no one has been buried here in more than thirty years, there are still visitors who leave all manner of offerings...

Unfortunately, being the oldest cemetery in the city, and being that it is unused today, the grave sites have fallen into disrepair. There are many monuments and headstones that have tumbled due to weathering and vandalism. For the most part, the damaged stone is always placed back in it's rightful place, even if it is not repairable.
There is a definite energy in this place, and it is one of the sites visited on a haunted tour put on yearly by the local museum - which has it's own ghost named "The Blue Lady."

I always say that if the cemeteries here were like these, I could even like them! Such beautiful graves on the grass, not a endless cement-paved place like here!

~good morning ms. rue...thank you for sharing a bit of your town with us...i have always found graveyards peaceful...when i first learned to drive i often headed to where my great grandmother was laid to rest beneath a cherry blossom tree and i would sit for hours...just simply being and or clearing my mind when needed...wonderful books you are giving...much l♥ve and light upon you~

We have a graveyard near hear that is just gorgeous. I may have to take some pics and share them. I love exploring it!
I like exploring old cemeteries. I have 3 not far from my house in the country. One is very old.

old cemeteries like that will soon be only a memory as they bury us in little holes in walls nowadays. I love the green and peace of a good graveyard....it is a resting spot after all.....

That's too bad that the cemetery has become derelict. It looks like a beautiful place to spend eternity! Is it just that there are other places to go now? I wonder if those souls knew that one day there'd be no one left to come care for their physical remains.

I love old cemeteries....the pictures of this one are grand. I used to work in a cemetery and I loved the restful (no pun intended) feel of it. Like a nature preserve with all manner of critters.

I really regret not being by any old, peaceful cemeteries. When we lived in Pasadena we visited this one huge old cemetery. It instilled in me such a feeling of stillness and magic :)

awesome trip through the cemetery. There is a cemetery about 4 blocks from where I live and it has a really great older section. It's a really small cemetery, and my family have all had plots there since before I was born so I'll get to join the old headstones someday.

I've always very much enjoyed visiting long forgotten graves to leave wild flowers and just say hello. Graveyards are such peaceful and often time beautiful, places.
I loved the tour. The graveyard made me think of Anne of Green Gables for some reason and I love it.

I love old graveyards. There was a "hidden one" I liked to visit when I lived in Massachusetts. There were graves there from the 1600's. They are such magical places.
